The Basic Knot
The basic knot to use for screw eyes, picture hanging rings, screw hooks, picture hooks, planter hooks, etc. Instructions as follows:
  • 1. Pass the end of the wire through the screw eye. Double back and make 5 or more twists around the extended portion of the wire.
  • 2. Holding the coils, bring the end back through the first look formed between the coils and the screw eye and then back again through the big loop as shown.
  • 3. Grasp the extended portion of the wire and pull up tight. Now you have a knot that will hold up to 90% of the original strength of your wire.
Tip: Embed screw eyes firmly into the back of your casts then use this wiring technique to hang them.
